N.B he is very much alive

Hey Dad,

I never say this enough but I love and respect you, you have been one great source of inspiration to me and my siblings. I look at you and I just pray to be like you and have your patience.

I am yet to see any man as patient as you are, you have taught me so much even without saying a word. I have watched you while growing up and I can’t but say I am in awe of you.

Unlike some, you are not the father that can gift me a car for my birthday, at least not yet, but you have gifted me life, you have gifted me values, things I can’t trade even if there was a market for morals and for virtue.

You know I have seen you and Mom almost get into arguments and you would just stay silent for a bit and then go back to the conversation before a major fight rears it’s evil head and that’s it, fight avoided. Mehn! Never have I seen such skill on display for years. I thought people get tired of stomaching things but you never seem to be tired, if anything, you have become even more skilled at it.

I don’t know how else to say I love you Dad, I don’t know how else to appreciate you, Dad, all I know is I will definitely make you proud. My siblings and I will not let your labour of love be in vain. We will make you so proud you will forget the days of hurt, the days of nothing, you will forget all the days you had to remember the evil men did to you.

A friend of mine some years back, always attacked me saying “don’t you love your dad?” And I am like I do and she is like you never talk about him. Today she might know how much I adore this man. 😁

Over the years I have wished you could be a Dangote and many other big men, but now more than ever I realize God gave me just the father I need and gave you to me in the right size, strength, capacity and any other thing I might need. Your words sit in my heart even when I am not home with you.

My promise to you

  • Dad, now more than ever I will stay focused to make sure all what you had to sacrifice, just to make sure I finished my University Education doesn’t go to waste.
  • I will stay closer to the cross, so I don’t do anything that will bring tears to your face and mom’s face.
  • I will continually work and work even harder to make sure one day very soon I can buy all the things money can buy to satisfy wants in the life of a human being.
  • I will be that son you need me to be.

Happy Birthday Dad. 🎉🎊

I know I never say this and might never say it to your face but I love you Dad.

I love you too Mom 😁.. but today is for Daddy Tolu😁
