Let me tell you about snapshots — Mac Os

So my laptop has been loosing its mind for a while now, and then everytime it does that I have to take it to the repairer and spend someone that I really don’t feel like spending to get it done 😟

Recently it became frequent and resulting in a big hole in my pocket. Then it crashed one last time and then I knew I had to find away. This time I stayed up all night to get it done.

I tried installing the os from the recovery mode, Mehn the laptop didn’t agree oo ⚠️. I even erased my hard drive 😭.. lost all my files again and then unfortunately I still didn’t get it up and running 😡 .. so double loss, lost my files and lost my system.

BTW I am looking for a name for my laptop, pls help me name her.

Now to the story of the day — Snapshots 😇

Yes you saw the halo up there, it’s an angel in a Mac OS 😁.

So yesterday at about 3pm, I got home and tried turning on my laptop again ( the nameless Bae) .. and there goes the install error. I wanted to die, I was like why me, after I just danced my soul out in church and went to eat rice in my pastor’s house, what have I done wrong?

I tried using command prompt and typing all the codes that I don’t understand but I have learnt over time but Bae didn’t come back to life. I even followed different hacks and fixes I saw online, nothing worked. Oh Boy I prayed and then left it.

The eureka moment is here 🌡💣🏳️

A little later in the day, more like in the night already, I came back to the laptop, put it on in recovery mode, then clicked on Restore From Time Machine Backup. Mind you I have never backed up. I don’t even plan on traveling back in time or forward gaan, but I clicked it still, and then I saw snapshots. I was first wondering which one is snapshots again, but I clicked again again and then saw snapshots with time stamps and I am like hmm, let’s take the latest because the description of snapshot already was comforting, I clicked and laptop goes the normal booting again. I kept my fingers crossed, I prayed, and I even peed, by the time I was back laptop was showing that high Sierra mountain I was too happy ..

So all my long story is to let you know there is something called snapshots on Mac OS and you can be much more at ease when you have an issue with your laptop.

I did a little research on it and found out the snapshots are taken every hour and it gets deleted just like Snapchat stories (after 24 hours that is)..
